Another Easter came and went! Things have been moving right along in the Boyko house!
Jada is wrapping up her First Grade year. She loves learning and we had a great parent-teacher meeting in March. Jada was able to write a short story for the local Hunterdon Democrat paper about where she wants to live when she grows up. She was thrilled to be a "published author"! We are now up to 7 lost baby teeth and the more her permanent teeth grow in, the more grown up she looks.
Julia is doing great in her preschool class (Strawberry Patch). She is a much different child than Jada is so its great to see them learning things so much differently from each other. Julia is currently learning the alphabet and she is now able to write her own name and Jada's too! She is very quiet and sensitive and tries so hard to keep up with her big sister.
In March we got Jada her first new bike. She loves riding around the neighborhood with the other kids now that the warm weather is finally here. Her old bike, of course goes to Julia until Julia is ready for a new big girl bike too.
We usually drive to Charlotte, NC for Easter to spend with my grandma but due to pressing work issues this year (we went live with SAP nationwide on April 5th), we decided to take that trip the last week of June this year. So we spent a quiet Easter with Cary's mom and dad. We all went to church and then came back to our house for a big Easter brunch. The weather was spectacular and it was as if we were in Charlotte because it was so warm! The night before Easter we went to a small regional airport in Whitehouse Station to see the Easter bunny fly in. Jada managed to talk Cary into taking her up in a Cessna 4 seater plane. She loved it and he is still recovering!!
Cary and I survived the latest round of layoffs and downsizing at Merck. For that we are grateful and we count our blessings every day.
This spring and summer we are concentrating on the outside of our house. We are currently getting quotes for a paver sidewalk out front and we will be planting a few more trees, shrubs and bushes. Cary has started part 3 of 4 in his square foot, raised vegetable gardens. Once all 4 are done we are going to get quotes for a chain link fence and gate.
We will also be expanding our family again this summer by adopting a dog. We all miss Dexter and even though we'd love another puppy, I don't have the time or the energy to train one at this point in our lives so we are hoping the right doggie finds us at the shelter we go to. Sophia our cat is just fat, dumb, and happy (lol) at our house since we adopted her a year ago. She really is the best cat I've ever had. The kids put her through so much and she rarely scratches them at all.
