Drew Onyx is our handsome baby boy born March 05.We were full of anticipation for our first child! We knew when Drew was born that our lives would never be the same. How we misjudged how our lives would change. In October 05, Drew was diagnosed with Ring Chromosome 20.Ring Chromosome 20 syndrome is one of a number of chromosomal disorders associated with epilepsy. Ring Chromosome 20 syndrome occurs when the arms of one of the pair of chromosome 20s which are present in each cell fuse to form a ring during pre-natal development. Why the formation of the ring causes epilepsy and other symptoms of the syndrome is not known. This syndrome is very rare - only 70 reported cases in the United States.
Drew is a handsome little boy. Drew continues to be the light of our lives. His smile just warms your heart. He unquestionably knows his family, and he can undoubtedly communicate when he is not happy. Today Drew is very developmentally delayed. We attend physical therapy and occupational therapy several times a week.Drew works very hard, and every week he gets stronger.Drew continues to be followed by many fantastic doctors, nurses and therapists who all care about him and his condition. We are very appreciative for the care we have received from all of them. We are continually researching tools that will help Drew beat the odds. With his stubbornness, and our drive we are confident that we will!Drew has so many wonderful people who love and care for him. We do not know what the future holds but we take each day as a blessing and cherish each one.
Please feel free to read and sign Drew’s guestbook. Your thoughts, wishes and prayers mean the world to us.
