The girls are enjoying exploring music these days! Besides continuing their work in violin and cello, they're all three developing skills with the recorder, piano, and Choir Chimes, a form of Hand Bells. Emily still assists in teaching Morghanne's advanced recorder choir class and all three girls enjoy playing recorder.
Music this time of year is such a treat and this December has brought many opportunities and we're so thankful to have been a part of them!
The girls provided seasonal music for Brett's company's Christmas gathering on December 6, which gave them a new adventure. They played 90 minutes of Christmas favorites while guests ate and socialized---thank you, Suzuki, for endurance training through good concert preparation all these years!
Our church's Cantata, A Festival of Carols, was December 14, and all the girls worked very hard on music for it--Emily on violin, Morghanne on cello, Jillian on chimes, and Mom on the flute and piccolo this time around. It was a wonderful program and such a blessing with lots of congregational involvement throughout.
Suzuki Christmas concerts this year were in area nursing homes December 20, and the girls' Recorder and Chime Choirs presented Christmas music on December 21 at our church. Good times!

December 1, we had the great privilege of hearing Governor Sarah Palin speak in Augusta. The event was opened with prayer and the pledge of allegiance and we heard from our honorable governor Sonny Perdue and Senator Saxby Chambliss before Mrs. Palin took the platform. She is as dynamic, intelligent, endearing, and real as she appears on TV. We were left with a deep sense of the challenge that lies ahead for this nation and the responsibilities we must take seriously to preserve liberty for future generations. We're so very thankful that God mercifully allowed Senator Chambliss to retain his Senate seat in the December 2 run-off. Thanks for your prayers: it's a victory for the entire nation as well as for Georgia.

We've had a very busy fall filled with lots of wonderful memory-making times! Our Homeschool co-op is such a blessing as we've made many new friends and had our minds challenged with some excellent classes. Emily is taking a science lab taught by a retired engineer (for chemistry and physics) and a nurse (for the anatomy portion.) She's also taking Business and Careers being taught in conjunction with the Junior Achievement Program, as well as my Speech and Drama class. Morghanne and Jillian are taking a class on current events and Morghanne is thoroughly enjoying her Art and PE classes, while Jillian is LOVING her Science class focusing on birds and bugs, and her Literature appreciation class where they've been studying the Chronicles of Narnia. SO MANY good times we've had at co-op! What a blessing indeed!

We had a wonderful blessing at our annual Western Day in October. Each fall, our church family gathers in the country for some good old fashioned fun: hay rides, bon fires, good food, trail riding, skeet shooting, and great fellowship. This year, the weather was foreboding until time for us to gather. Around noon, the sky cleared and a gorgeous day unfolded. The sweetest blessing of the day, though, was seeing the Canfield family all together again and Bryce playing with his friends after his year-long battle with cancer. His most recent scans revealed that he is cancer-free, and our precious church family, who have upheld him in prayer faithfully this entire year, revelled in the blessing of seeing him for the first time in over a year.

We had a relaxing weekend in Hilton Head around Brett's birthday, November 4, this year and even ventured down to Savannah, our old stomping ground, for a day while we were on the coast. It was a nice time for Brett to take a break from a very busy routine. Besides the pool and spa business remaining steady, he continues to teach the young adult Sunday School class--a ministry he truly loves--and has enjoyed some additional speaking opportunities this year in teen ministries, church services, and at a local prison. Recently, the casual "twice a month basketball nights" with the guys at church has turned a little more competitive. Our guys joined a local church league and will play a few games around town in January and February. They won their first game last week so the season looks rather promising. We'll keep you posted!

Our Christmas Card To You
As we reflect on this past year, we see it's been a mixture of trials and blessings, victories and losses, and smiles and tears. Through it all, we praise the Lord for His faithfulness and grace. He is good, always, and lovingly guides His children through both refining hardship and gracious blessing to make us more like Himself. We pray that you've come through your trials and rejoiced in your blessings having caught a new glimpse of the depth of the love God has for you and a renewed vision of His purposes in your life.
We're grateful for you and thank you, our friends and family, for your prayers and encouragement for us, particularly regarding our trip to New Zealand this past summer. What a blessed privilege to have been a part of the work God is doing in that land, and what a continued encouragement to see fruit still being reaped as a direct result of our team's ministry there. More Kiwi young people have trusted Christ as Savior in the months since our return, and the church in Auckland continues to grow . Thank you again for your support!
We pray you will know the blessing of true liberty in our dear Savior and will treasure the beauty of this Christmas season as you "give thanks to God for His unspeakable gift."
Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year!
As we reflect on 2008, we see it's been a mixture of trials and blessings, victories and losses, and smiles and tears. Through it all, we praise the Lord for His faithfulness and grace. He is good, always, and lovingly guides His children through both refining hardship and gracious blessing to make us more like Himself. We pray that you've come through your trials and rejoiced in your blessings of 2008, having caught a new glimpse of the depth of the love God has for you and a renewed vision of His purposes in your life in 2009.
We rang in the new year at a special showing of the movie "Fireproof" at our church. If you haven't yet seen the movie, it's due for release on DVD 1/27/09 and is a must-add to your collection. We guarantee your heart will be challenged.
We wish you well in 2009!
