Aunt Christine
The best memories I have are more the event than a specific occurrence, of visiting Aunt Christine and spending hours talking with her about all the happenings of Bremond or good stories of days long ago.
I remember stepping through that little white gate to follow a narrow little sidewalk on the side yard of the white, Victorian-styled house which was surrounded by the beautifully manicured yard of flowers to knock on the back screen door.  I'd feel the warm breeze whip around the corner of the screened back porch, brushing my hair back from my face.  We were warmly greeted from the kitchen with a "come on in" and the soothing aroma of home-cookin'  (usually soup or baked goodies) which was the ultimate definition of  good ol' southern hospitality found in Bremond.  As she check things one last time in the kitchen, she would invite us to tour the rest of the house, which often was quickly opened up just for our visit, much like her heart to those she welcomed.  The five-roomed home never had a thing out of place and was always clean enough to eat off the wooden floors.  She would proudly yet humbly show us the newest changes especially stopping by the newest photos of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which were her whole world and complete pride and joy.  She would mention their latest accomplishments and life events to share them with us, as though they were standing in the room with us.  With one last pass through the kitchen to check on things, she would “let it cool” and sit down to discuss anything under the sun.  After several stories had passed, she would start toward the kitchen to offer us whatever had been so lovingly prepared.  Of course, without refusing, the homemade goodies would melt in my mouth and a taste savored, as only found in the Snider family.
By the time I left there, I wasn't sure what all we had talked about, but I felt like I had been part of it all and shared in a part of her.  While I wasn’t “from” Bremond, I felt like I was, much like being part of the Walton’s’ family .

Aunt Christine-continued...
She was always free to share information, a “True Communicator” and with a smile upon my face, her laughter would echo in my ears for miles after we drove away. Her sweet hugs and genuine happiness to see you always made you feel loved and welcomed.  She was a strong lady with many years of wisdom that came from years of hard work as a wife and mother that were a witness to strong convictions, heart ache, and prayers, yet instead of hardened, she accepted anyone who might step through that back door to offer a piece of herself that would remain with you always.
She and my Bushia (Willie Snider Storemski) were close sisters and talked almost daily, usually partially in Polish and English as I eavesdropped.  I didn’t realize it until after my Bushia passed away, but I began to see the many similarities between the two and in many ways she helped to fill that void felt by losing a grandparent.  In both cases, life bestowed rarely found dignity, wisdom, and unconditional love that have touched me deeply.  I am so blessed for having their example to guide me in hopes that one day my grandchildren will see at least a small part of these unique characteristics passed on through me. She will be deeply missed, but alive in us all forever.
