James Neil, born in County Kerry, Ireland about 1816, immigrated to Canada 1845, married Eliza Shuel in Detroit
Alexander O'Neil I, born in County Kerry, Ireland, married Margaret Houlihan immigrated to Canada
Alexander O'Neil II, born 1821 in cunty Kerry, Ireland, married Annie Shuel
Wm Alexander O'Neil  married Beatrice Whiteside

The Shewel (Shuel ) Family of County Kerry, Ireland

The Shewel Family came to Canada in 1845, first to the Detroit area,  where James O'Neil and Eliza Shuel were married in 1848. They went to Sandwich after their marriage where they had two children, before going to New Brunswick for the 1851 census. They returned to Essex County where Eliza died as a result of childbirth with their third child in 1855.

John Shewel, 70, farmer, and Mary (Langford) Shewel, 56, were living in New Brunswick in 1851 along with William Shewel, 35, George Shewel, 22, born in Upper Canada, Anthony Shewel, 20, visitor from Detroit, Mich., John Shewel, 32, farmer, Aliza Shewel, 28, born in the U.S.A., Albert Shewel, 7, born in Upper Canada,
James O'Neil (3rd great-grandfather), 35, farmer,  and Eliza (Shuel) O'Neil, 25, born in Upper Canada??, were living there as well, with Mary, 3, born in Upper Canada, and William James, under a year, born in Upper Canada (2nd great-grandfather), and James Langford, 53, gardener, family in Ireland (Mary Shewel's brother).

The Libby Family


Isaac Libby was born  24 Sep 1815 in Crowan Parish, Cornwall, England and married Grace George, born on  29 Sep 1816 in Mullion, Cornwall, England, on July 2, 1837 at St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
They had the following children:

William Francus Libby, born in Feb. and christened April 26th, 1836 at  St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Mary Hocking Libby, born Jan. 14, 1838, christeined at St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Elizabeth Libby, born in July and christened Sept. 13th, 1840 at St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Benjamin Libby, born Dec. 1841 and christened Feb. 27,1842 at St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.

Benjamin Libby was born 24 Sep 1843 in Crowan Parish, Cornwall, England  and christened at St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England. He married Joanna Thomas in England in 1865.
Robert Libby was born Feb. 16, 1845 and christined May 14, 1845 in St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Isaac Libby, born March 12, 1846 in Crowan Parish, Cornwall England and died Jan. 2, 1925 in Pittsburg, PA.

Richard George Libby, born Mar. 1849, christined May14, 1849 in St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Grace Libby, born in Jan. 1851 in Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Julia Libby, born Sept. 6, 1853, christened in St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Johannah Libby, born May 14, 1854 and christened at St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Harriett Libyy, born in Oct. 1855 and christened Dec. 23, 1855 in St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.
Joanna Libby, born in July 1858 and christened on Sept. 12,1858 in St Aubyns Church, Crowan Parish, Cornwall England.

Benjamin Libby came to Canada  in 1871. He lived in Peel County for a while before coming to Sandwich, Ontario. Benjamin married Hannah Duck, born in Toronto and had the following children:
Isaac William Libby, born in 1872
Grace, born in 1873
Thomas, born in 1875
Rhoda, born in 1876
Harriett (Hattie), born in 1878
Benjamin, born in 1881
Robert, born in 1882

Hannah died on Jan. 13, 1884 in Sandwich S., Essex County, Ontario.


Benjamin Libby married Mary Jane Hannah in Sandwich on Jan. 26, 1886.
