Today is the first day of autumn....yah, hooray, love fall!

It is 93 degrees here in Vidalia, Georgia, but alas - I'm breaking out the pumpkin recipes and have decorated the house with flora and fauna for fall.

SaraKay had a fight with a neighbor's swing last Thursday, and she lost. Oops - fell off that ol' tree

swing and when the wooden disc swung back at her, it clocked her smack in the forehead.  Fortunately, she did not get hit in the temple; no teeth were knocked out, and she remained conscious.  Whew!  We did get to make an exciting trip to the ER, however.  Five stitches later, and 2 popsicles in tow, the four of us were heading home and thankful it hadn't been a boring evening.  LOL

Daniel and Greg actually started Cub Scout meetings that same night - Danman is a "bobcat" this year.  He and Greg are heading out to their first "pack" campout this weekend.  I hope they have a ball with their sock coffee, campfire chili and 2-person tent!  I bet they will!

Homeschool is going good, although 3rd grade curriculum is a lot harder tha 2nd grade curriculum.  It has all come back afresh, just how much of a "jump" there is when a student moves up to 3rd.  Same thing seems to happen in 5th and 8th grade, from what I remember.

SaraKay is excited about VHA's "GRANDPARENTS DAY CHAPEL" tomorrow morning.  Ms. Jan (Holt) has agreed to be her adopted grandparent for the day, and she is so happy about that.  I'll post pics later.

And... we're the proud new grandparents of....

4 glow fish.  Eenie, Meanie, Miney and Mo.  Two bright RED; two bright orange.  It's been fun to have them!

 What's New

The Turkey Turcottes have had so many good memories this year but we've also experienced a lot of RADICAL change!   I am not teaching Junior Highers any longer as we brought Daniel home to school using the K12 GCAcademy online curriculum back in December of 2009.  SaraKay continues to demonstrate that she thrives in a social setting and that she's WAAAAY smarter than I ever imagined.  She will return to VHA as a 1st grader on August 20th.   Daniel also enjoys target-shooting his compound bow&arrow as well as playing with LEGOs and melty art crafts.  He and Greg are one testing cycle away from being brown belts in ty kwon do.  Greg continues to make time for this Tues/Thurs. activity inbetween 9 hour work days at TRANE, RLU at church, and men's meetings with accountability brothers.  Greg and I don't date enough anymore, but we're working on fitting that back in once school begins.  Daniel has made one really good friend this summer, and he's learning more and more how to interact on a "kid level" with his peers.  Greg's trying to be more social as well, or least have that want to.  Skay and I like being around people most all of the time, and my favorite summer time activity this year was leading our first summer ladies Bible study up at FBC Vidalia.  We studied the Psalms of Ascent alongside Beth Moore.  SaraKay loves to fish ever since catching 8 brim at our church's fishin' rodeo in July.   She also likes to garden and create decorations and well, just random stuff.  You will often find her teaching or hosting an "event" for her stuffed animals or neighboring friends.  She's full of surprises!.  A non diagnosed ADD child CAN pay attention when they are challenged, encouraged and kept motivated. So, as we close out the summer, we can reflect on lots of great memories: We enjoyed seeing "Toy Story 3" as well as "How to Train Your Dragon" but as we look fwd, we hope to live a more RADICALLY abandoned life so as to not be tied to luxury and to make more of an impact for Christ in all nations.
