I have really enjoyed this site and appreciate the information someone has worked so hard to compile. I am the grandson of James Russell and Donnie Bell Emerson. My mother is Earline Emerson Harris.I am really glad to hear from some of you. Jesse I saw as a baby and then not until I worked for the University of North Alabama and she walked in to observe me as part of her studies. I began talking to her and felt as though I knew her. I asked who her parents were and found they were Uncle Garvin and Aunt Eunice, whom I visited when we were in the south for vacation. Of the 18 children belonging to James Russ and Donnie Bell, my mother, Earline, and my uncle Clovis are all that remain. They are in their 80's. I have my grandfather's love for horses. As some of you know, James Russ was the last postman to deliver mail by horseback. My email is; mcashaker2@bellsouth.net

Hello Barry, I am John Thomas & Edith Edna Smith's Son. I have fond memories of visiting Harvey and Helen's home as a child. Your dad was a childhood favorite...he taught me how to ride a horse. I remember your mom and when you were born and how proud and happy everyone was back then. Best wishes and tell everyone hello for me. I really miss my kin from upper NW AL. I miss those reunions at Tisimingo. God bless all.

Great site, Barry! I'm nabbing all your tree info at ancestry.com, too; I hope you don't mind! This is Jessie, Garvin Emerson's daughter, granddaughter of Donna Isabell Uptain. It's not a dedicated Uptain site, but I invite you to put your Uptain/Upton queries on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/emerson_robinson. It's where we originally got together to get past the George Emerson/Esther Robinson roadblock, but it expanded from there. We've also got a Native American site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/native_american_scott that focuses primarily on the Scott surname, but there's lots of interesting information about Southeastern Native American research there, as well.
